Hans Bongartz

Hans is an experienced consultant and manager with a special focus on people & culture. He started his career in the Corporate Finance practice of KPMG, one of the Big-4, where he was also segment leader Energy & Utilities for a long time. Here he was involved in over 100 M&A transactions. During this period he developed his interest in the human factors that determine whether or not an M&A process succeeds. During the (psychology) Master Consulting for Change at INSEAD, he realized that instead of short-term involvement in an acquisition or sale, he would rather have a long-term (co-)responsibility in defining and implementing the strategy of a company.

As Director of Corporate Development & Venturing at Eneco, he was given that opportunity. He led the strategy process regarding expansion into Germany and was jointly responsible for the acquisitions of scale-up Next Kraftwerke and energy supplier LichtBlick, among others. Hans eventually also became a member of the management team there and was closely involved in LichtBlick´s growth from the ninth to the fifth position in the German market. He also led a major professionalization process of LichtBlick´s HR infrastructure with the introduction of the HAY system.

As a frequent visitor and supervisor, Hans is closely involved in modern art and theater. He also enjoys cooking and can regularly be found on his racing bike.
