Finance Director Group Business Control for Damen Group
We are looking for an ambitious and strategic Finance Director Group Business Control for our client Damen Shipyards, based in Gorinchem. The Finance Director will report to the CFO and will build bridges between finance and business.
Job description
In this role, the FD Group Business Control will further professionalize the group-wide business and management reporting framework. He will also be actively involved with, or coordinating multiple improvement initiatives related to ERP migrations, reporting tooling, data management and financial modelling.
FD Group Business Control will be a strong sparring partner for the Divisional FDs and the FDs of operating companies. He will be closely involved with the business and is expected to take initiatives for improving and professionalizing the finance business support at divisional and operational level.
The key accountabilities for the FD Group Business Control will be:
- Monitoring the monthly reporting (including reporting to all stakeholders) and forecasting of the Group’s Divisions and Expertise Centers;
- Coordinating and leading the periodical budgeting process of the entire Group;
- Identifying opportunities to improve and enforce the business controller role within the Divisions;
- Liaising with Treasury in order to manage the periodical cash flow reporting;
- Monitoring the financial position of the Divisions and improve KPI’s and other reporting cycles to improve the performance;
- Acting as a financial sparring partner to Divisions;
- Supporting Divisions in special cases like M&A, restructuring, group finance etc.

Job requirements
Candidate Background and experience:
- Completed university education, a postdoctoral RA or RC degree is a strong advantage;
- At least 15 years of broad financial management experience, specifically in business control, in a highly professional and international environment; Ideal would be experience at Operating Company level and at Group level;
- Several years experience in a managerial role, in an environment of change, with multiple stakeholders;
- Experience in project control and data analytics;
- Fluency in English and Dutch.
