Measures can be put in place to minimize risks and promote transparency. One fundamental step is to inform end-users when they come into contact with AI technology. This transparency helps individuals understand that certain decisions, such as credit risk assessments, are made by AI algorithms. It could be taken under consideration to enforce companies with a size of over 100 people to appoint AI officers, similar to the GDPR's data protection officers. AI officers would oversee the usage of AI within their organizations, and ensure compliance with forthcoming AI regulations and facilitate proactive measures such as conducting workshops on ethical AI practices and pursuing compliance audits.
AI is here to stay. All organizations will eventually integrate it in their daily operations. But they must be aware of the risks and commit themselves to responsible AI usage.
