Bastiaan Hoogendoorn to lead Boer & Croon's combined Executive Search division

Bastiaan: “Boer & Croon now has four executive search labels with specific positioning. My job is to leverage this diversity and ensure synergy where possible. This is possible by investing in systems and technology, which allows us to work more efficiently and achieve even better results. Automating processes can help take some of the less challenging, repetitive parts of our work off our hands. This allows more time for clients and makes people enjoy their work more. 

However, the human factor remains crucial in our profession. It all starts with a good understanding of the assignment and ends with the proper guidance for both clients and candidates. With a larger group of executive searchers, each with their own specific experience and expertise, you can learn from each other and take advantage of a more exhaustive search field. We have extensive sector knowledge in the highest market segment with our four labels. By leveraging that diversity well, we can better serve our clients and continue to grow in the market.”

Bastiaan studied commercial economics in Groningen and financial business administration at Nyenrode. After his studies, he began his career at KLM as a management trainee and later in various management positions within the cargo division in the Netherlands, Paris, and Hong Kong. He was on the KLM Executive Board in his last position at KLM.

“That switch to executive search was a conscious choice. During my time at KLM and Oad, I had a lot of contact with various search parties and was asked several times whether this field would not be something for me. After I left Oad, I started thinking about it and decided to take the plunge, something I have never regretted. I learned the trade at Ebbinge and later switched to Quaestus Executive Leadership. Three main aspects attract me to an executive search. 
First of all, the commercial aspect. The search for growth and improvement has been and remains an important thread in my career. In addition, my business insights play an important role. I find it very interesting to understand how companies and business models work and why they are successful. Finally, I find the human factor extremely interesting. It fascinates me to be able to put my finger on what drives people and how they function in a team.”
